OVERVIEW
I am currently Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, where I also serve as Chair of the interdisciplinary Public & Environmental Affairs Unit. I have previously served as the Interim Chair for the Political Science Department. I was honored to receive the 2019-2020 UWGB-Sheboygan Campus Teacher of the Year Award. In addition to Political Science, I am also a faculty member in the Global Studies and Criminal Justice programs at UW-Green Bay.
My research explores intersections of human rights, migration, refugees, and U.S. foreign policy at local and global levels. My work has appeared in academic journals such as International Affairs, International Relations, Ethics & International Affairs, Politics & Religion, and The International Journal of Human Rights. My book, Reconfiguring Refugees: The US Retreat from Responsibility-Sharing, is forthcoming from NYU Press.
I received my Ph.D. in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Delaware. I received my B.A. in International Relations from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, where I focused on intercultural communication and the Middle East. While earning my graduate degree, I conducted field research in Egypt and worked with the State Department's Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) Student Leaders Program.
